Cafe Metro
42nd Street
NYC

East 42nd Street is the largest and most centrally located Cafe Metro, with 8,000 square feet on two levels and seating for 140 downstairs. The overall idea is that the food is fresh, clean and healthy; the design, then, is colorful, lively and visible

The walls are glass tile; the palate is surprising and sophisticated: deep red, taupe, pale pink, blue, brown, and foam green. In virtually all of the stores, Fenimore Rosenberg Kolb considered the cooking equipment and display, and set it into custom casegoods so that the separate appliances are visually unified; the fixtures are designed to look like they belong together, with a visual flow. Decorative light fixtures, glowing cylinders, establish a rhythm and reinforce the curves of the counters.
